I am Yanga Sobetwa, I am born and bred in Cape Town, I have a passion for music. I am very passionate, loving, I have a big heart, and I love people. I have a summer nominated debut album Promised land and I am a born-again child of God.
Please share with us an experience that almost destroyed you, an experience that almost cost you your life, however you decided to go out there and Fetch Your Life
I had an intense mental breakdown because of the overwhelming happenings of life, in fact a couple but God has been helping me recover, and get better, I’m currently in a quest of seeking professional help. Mental health is an issue our generation is intensely face with and it’s hard for people around us, adults to be exact to understand.
How has this experience impacted your life?
It has impacted my life incredibly, the symptoms I face daily, inconvenience my life a lot. For example, memory loss, the inability to fully concentrate, loss of appetite, it has also impacted the way I choose the circle I involve myself in.
Do you think that had it not been for this experience you would have become the person you are?
I think so, I think that experience has shaped me and changed my perspective on life generally and relationships.
What advise do you have for someone that has been through the same experience?
Every relationship you have, business relationship, friendship related, family orientated, choose peace, invest into quality people, you won’t worry about reaping.
What does women Empowerment mean to you?
For me it means the liberation of the mind, it means breaking certain mentalities that stop us from being successful, truth is resources are available, but we just need to free our minds.
What are some of your achievements?
I’ve been able to be a millionaire before 20, have a property, have a company, be a SAMA nominated artist, before the age of 20 by the grace of God only.
Please tell us more about your upcoming projects/Collaborations?
Planning to release new music, that’s what I my brand needs right now, I have a more planned this year but I’d rather it be a surprise.
What Inspired you to pursue music?
It’s my passion, I wouldn’t trade it for anything else, also seeing successful artists made me believe it was possible for me too.
What kind of legacy do you want to leave behind?
I was to leave a legacy that will place a demand on a teenagers life, a demand for them to dream big, and one that will assure them there’s nothing such as being ‘ too ambitious “ if you can dream it, you can do it.
